  • 3/4 cup Powdered sugar Dissolves smoothly and sweetens evenly. Maple syrup can be an option.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Fragrant and warming.
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar Provides deep caramel notes; swap for coconut sugar if preferred.

For the toppings

  • 1/2 cup Chocolate chips Semisweet is classic; use dark chocolate for a more intense flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Caramel sauce Can use homemade or high-quality store-bought.
  • 3/4 cup Pecans, chopped Toast for best flavor; walnuts can substitute.
  • pinch Salt To balance the sweetness.

For serving

  • Graham crackers, apple slices, pretzels, or shortbread Each brings a different texture and personality.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Let the cream cheese sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes to soften.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until creamy and lump-free.
  • Add sour cream, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt; beat until light and airy.
  • Stir in half of the chopped pecans and half of the chocolate chips.
  • Transfer the dip to a shallow serving bowl. Swirl caramel sauce over the top and sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips and pecans.

Serving

  • Serve immediately for a soft dip or refrigerate for 15-30 minutes to let flavors meld and dip firm up slightly.

Notes

Optional: Make it vegan using dairy-free cream cheese and coconut yogurt. Prepare the base and toppings separately to assemble just before serving for the best texture.
