Instructions

Preparation

  • Thinly slice 1 pound of flank steak against the grain for tenderness.
  • In a bowl, combine sliced beef, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch. Toss to coat and let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat until hot.
  • Add the marinated beef to the hot pan in a single layer. Sear for about 2-3 minutes until the edges turn golden and are no longer pink, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the beef is done, add any remaining marinade to the pan and bring it to a simmer. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve over rice, noodles, or steamed veggies.

Notes

For added spice, include a teaspoon of red pepper flakes. For a vegetarian option, use extra firm tofu or tempeh. Add seasonal vegetables for more nutrition. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
