  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Garlic powder is a good substitute if fresh isn't available.
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley Or opt for basil or dill for a unique twist.
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce Homestyle or herbed varieties enhance flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce For added depth and umami.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season generously for optimal flavor.

Preparation

  • Start by removing the core from the cabbage and boiling it in a large pot of salted water for about 5-7 minutes until the leaves are soft and pliable.
  • In a skillet, sauté the chopped onion and garlic until translucent. Combine this with the ground meat, cooked rice, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, ensuring the mixture is well-blended.
  • Gently remove the soft leaves and place them on a flat surface. Spoon a generous amount of the meat filling into each leaf, folding the sides over and rolling it up tightly.
  • Layer the stuffed cabbage rolls in a baking dish, seam side down. Pour the tomato sauce over the top, making sure to cover each roll for moisture during cooking.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes. For a crispier finish, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
