Preparation

  • Evenly layer the pepperoni slices over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
  • Add shredded mozzarella, crushed red pepper flakes, and Italian seasoning on top.
  • Carefully roll the dough away from you into a tight log.
  • Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled dough into 1-inch thick pinwheels.
  • Place the pinwheels on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart.
  • Brush the top with the beaten egg.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  • Allow the pinwheels to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Tip: Let the pinwheels rest for 5 minutes after baking for easier slicing. Serve with marinara or pesto for dipping. Healthier swaps include whole wheat pizza dough or lighter cheese options.
