Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 14 oz Smoked sausage Feel free to substitute with turkey sausage for a healthier twist.
  • 1 medium Green cabbage, sliced Red cabbage can be used for a more colorful presentation.
  • 2 Carrots, sliced thinly You can swap them for bell peppers if preferred.
  • 1 Onion, sliced Shallots work as a lovely alternative.
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced Garlic adds an irresistible earthy aroma.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil A healthy fat that will help in cooking the ingredients evenly.
  • Salt and pepper To taste, essential seasonings that bring all flavors together.
  • Soy sauce or hot sauce (optional) Adds an additional kick.

Instructions

Cooking Steps

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced sausage and sauté for about 5 minutes until nicely browned.
  • Stir in the sliced onion and carrots. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until the veggies become tender-crisp.
  • Add the minced garlic and stir for about 30 seconds — don’t let it burn!
  • Add the sliced cabbage. Mix everything together and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage wilts and is tender but still has some crunch.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and optional soy or hot sauce. Toss to combine all the flavors.
  • Serve hot, garnished with chopped herbs if desired.

Notes

This dish is versatile; feel free to add other vegetables like broccoli, snap peas, or mushrooms for added nutrition. You can also use chicken, shrimp, or even tofu for a vegetarian option.
