Preparation

  • Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage, slice it in half, and then cut it into thin strips.

Sautéing

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced onion, stirring occasionally until it becomes translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and smoked paprika, and let the aromas combine beautifully for about 30 seconds.

Cooking

  • Add the cabbage to the skillet and toss until it is well coated in the spices, then season with salt and pepper.
  • Cover the skillet and let it cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the cabbage starts to wilt.
  • Once the cabbage is tender (but still has a bit of crunch), stir in the apple cider vinegar and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Final Adjustments

  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary before serving family-style.

Notes

For healthier swaps, use avocado oil. Incorporate seasonal veggies like shredded carrots for added flavor and color. Add cheese just before serving for a creamy touch.
