Ingredients

Meatball Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Meat (beef, turkey, or chicken) Choose based on your preference; lean meats work great!
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs Regular or panko breadcrumbs add texture; for gluten-free, use crushed gluten-free crackers.
  • 1 large Egg Acts as a binder, keeping your meatballs deliciously moist.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Fresh garlic elevates the flavor; feel free to substitute with garlic powder.
  • 1/4 cup Onion, finely chopped Adds sweetness; shallots can work as a substitute.
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce Make your own or use store-bought; adjust the flavor by selecting sweet or smoky varieties.
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste Season generously; consider adding spices like paprika or cayenne for extra kick.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix gently but thoroughly.
  • Scoop out the mixture and roll into 1-inch meatballs. Place them onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one for even cooking.
  • Brush or drizzle half of the BBQ sauce over the meatballs.

Cooking

  • Bake for 15 minutes, then carefully flip the meatballs over, brushing on the remaining BBQ sauce.
  • Bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until they are fully cooked.
  • Remove from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored for up to three days in an airtight container. For longer storage, freeze the cooked meatballs and reheat in the microwave or oven.
