  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup (or maple syrup for a healthier choice)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans work wonderfully)

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Create a well in the center and add the milk and melted butter. Mix until a soft dough forms, ensuring not to overwork the dough for the best texture.
  • On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Spread softened butter over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts evenly on top, pressing gently to adhere.
  • Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 12 equal slices, placing them into a greased baking dish with the cut sides facing up.

Topping and Baking

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, and cinnamon. Cook until melted and combined, then pour evenly over the sliced rolls in the baking dish.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the no-yeast sticky buns in the oven for 25 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow them to cool for a few minutes before flipping onto a serving platter.

Notes

To make these sticky buns a bit healthier, consider substituting whole wheat flour for all-purpose flour, using Greek yogurt instead of butter, or trying natural sweeteners like honey or agave syrup instead of brown sugar.
