Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken thighs or breasts, skin-on Skin-on pieces are perfect for extra crispiness.
  • 1/2 cup honey Local honey has a special charm.
  • 4 cloves garlic, freshly minced Feel free to add more for an extra kick.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Use low-sodium to control saltiness.
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch For that crispy coating.
  • Salt and pepper Essential for seasoning.
  • Cooking oil High-heat oils like canola or vegetable oil work best.

Optional Toppings

  • Green onions or sesame seeds For a beautiful finish.

Instructions

Marination

  • In a bowl, mix honey, minced garlic, and soy sauce. Add your chicken pieces, ensuring they're well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.

Preparation

  • In another bowl, season cornstarch with salt and pepper.
  • Heat about 1/4 inch of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Cooking

  • Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess sauce to drip off, then dredge each piece in the seasoned cornstarch.
  • Gently place the chicken in the hot oil and fry for about 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crisp.
  • Once cooked, lower the heat and drizzle the remaining marinade over the chicken in the pan, letting it simmer for a couple of minutes.

Serving

  • Transfer your beautifully glazed chicken to a plate and sprinkle with green onions or sesame seeds.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in a skillet with a splash of water to keep juicy.
