  • 1 lb Sausage Meat Choose pork, chicken, or plant-based.
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped Adds sweetness and flavor.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced For aromatic flavor.
  • 1 tsp Herbs and Spices mix Thyme, sage, or chili flakes.

Pastry Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff Pastry Ready-made for convenience.
  • 1 large Egg For egg wash.
  • 1 tbsp Water To mix with the egg for egg wash.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • In a skillet, heat a splash of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft and fragrant for about 3-4 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine sausage meat, sautéed onions and garlic, and a mix of your preferred herbs and spices. Mix thoroughly.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut each into rectangles, approximately 4 inches by 6 inches.

Assembly

  • Place a generous spoonful of filling along one edge of the pastry rectangle. Roll the pastry up tightly and seal edges with a fork.
  • Brush the assembled rolls with egg wash for a golden finish.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until puffed and golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For creative variations, try adding cheese or vegetables to the filling. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for later use. Reheat directly from the freezer at 350°F for 15-20 minutes.
