Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour The base of our rolls, providing structure.
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons Yeast Essential for that light, fluffy texture.
  • ¼ cup Sugar Adds a touch of sweetness to balance the flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances the overall flavor of the rolls.
  • ¼ cup Butter For richness, creating a tender crumb.
  • 1 cup Milk (warmed) Adds moisture; you can substitute with almond milk for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 large Egg Helps bind the ingredients and enriches the dough.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  • Create a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.
  • Cover the dish and let the rolls rise for another 15-20 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
  • Allow them to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm with butter or your choice of spread.

Notes

For variations, mix dried herbs like oregano or basil into the dough for a fragrant twist, or add shredded cheese (like cheddar or parmesan) for a savory version.
