  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup For a healthier option, try a homemade version.
  • 1 bag frozen tater tots Go for sweet potato tots for a fun twist.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Add fresh minced garlic if you have it on hand.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the diced onion, and cook until softened.
  • Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
  • In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread the beef mixture evenly. Top with half of the shredded cheese, followed by a layer of tater tots, and then sprinkle the remaining cheese over the tater tots.
  • Generously sprinkle the crumbled bacon on top.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden, and the tater tots are crispy.

Notes

Consider variations such as using lean turkey, adding jalapeños for spice, or making it a breakfast casserole. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes.
