Ingredients

For the sliders

  • 12 pieces slider rolls Dinner rolls or Hawaiian rolls; soft, slightly sweet rolls work beautifully.
  • 8 ounces thinly sliced Swiss cheese Choose a good-quality Swiss for nutty, melty flavor.
  • 12 ounces thinly sliced ham Honey ham or smoked ham both shine here.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted For brushing and soaking the top layer with flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard Adds a gentle tang; swap for whole grain mustard if you prefer texture.
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds Optional, adds a bakery-style finish.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Deepens the savory notes.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Warm, aromatic lift.
  • Optional: thinly sliced pickles or a smear of fig jam For a sweet-savory contrast.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking dish with parchment for easy cleanup.
  • Split the rolls horizontally, keeping the tops and bottoms intact. Arrange the bottom halves in the pan snugly.
  • Layer the ham evenly over the bottom halves, folding slices if needed to create height and pockets of flavor. Next, lay the Swiss cheese over the ham so each slider gets a generous melt.
  • Place the top halves on and press gently so everything nestles together.

Baking

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and poppy seeds. Brush half the mixture over the tops of the sliders.
  • Cover tightly with foil and bake for 10 minutes.
  • Remove foil and brush with the remaining butter mixture. Bake uncovered for 2–5 more minutes until the cheese is gooey and the tops are lightly browned.
  • Let rest for 2 minutes, then slice between sliders and serve warm.

Notes

These sliders can be assembled the night before and refrigerated. Make sure to brush with butter right before baking. For a slower-cooked, extra-melded version, assemble and refrigerate overnight.
