Ingredients
  

For the Sliders

  • 12 rolls slider buns or small soft rolls Choose whole grain for a healthier option.
  • 10-12 ounces thinly sliced ham Smoky or honey-baked for extra flavor; leftover holiday ham is perfect.
  • 8 ounces cheese, sliced Swiss, cheddar, Gruyere, or provolone. Gruyere gives a nutty, indulgent finish.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted Brush the tops so they get golden and irresistible.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard or whole grain mustard Adds bright tanginess.
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds (optional) Classic Hawaiian-style topping, but optional for a simpler version.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Warms the flavor without extra work.
  • Fresh herbs (optional) Chopped parsley or chives for a pop of color.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking dish with parchment or lightly grease it.
  • Slice slider buns in half horizontally and place the bottom halves in the dish snugly.
  • Layer the ham evenly over the bottom halves, folding slices if needed.
  • Top the ham with cheese slices, covering each bun.
  • Spread mustard on the top halves of the buns, then close them over the cheese.
  • Brush the tops generously with melted butter mixed with garlic powder and poppy seeds.
  • Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 2–5 minutes until the tops are golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs, slice between the buns, and serve immediately.

Notes

Leftovers keep well. Store cooled sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat covered with foil in a 325°F oven for 10–12 minutes. For freezing, assemble but do not bake; wrap tightly and freeze for up to 2 months.
