Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef choose lean for a healthier option
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced button or cremini work beautifully
  • 1 medium onion, diced adds sweetness and depth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced adds aromatic flavor
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for sautéing; can substitute with butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme enhances earthy flavors
  • Salt and pepper to taste basic seasonings that elevate any dish
  • 1 cup beef broth optional, for added moisture and flavor

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion turns translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 3–4 minutes.
  • Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Use a spatula to break it apart and brown it evenly, cooking for about 5–7 minutes or until it's no longer pink.
  • Stir in the sliced mushrooms, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes until the mushrooms release their moisture and soften.
  • If using beef broth for extra flavor, pour it in now and let everything simmer together for another 3–4 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then remove from heat. Your delicious Ground Beef and Mushroom Skillet is ready to be enjoyed!
