Filling Ingredients

  • 1 pack Wonton wrappers Delicate pockets for the filling.
  • 1 lb Ground pork Can substitute with ground chicken or turkey for a healthier option.
  • 4 stalks Green onions Chopped, for flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Grated ginger For enhanced flavor.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced, for aroma and depth.
  • 6 cups Chicken broth Homemade is best; store-bought works too.
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce For added depth in flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil Adds richness and nutty flavor.
  • 2 cups Vegetables (like bok choy or mushrooms) For extra nutrition and texture.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix together ground pork, chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, and a splash of soy sauce.
  • Spoon about one teaspoon of filling onto the center of each wonton wrapper. Wet the edges with a little water, fold them in half to create a triangle, and press to seal.

Cooking

  • In a large pot, heat the chicken broth over medium heat, adding additional ginger and garlic for enhanced flavor.
  • Once the broth is bubbling, toss in your favorite vegetables.
  • Gently add the wontons to the simmering broth. They will cook for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Once cooked, drizzle sesame oil and adjust seasoning with more soy sauce if needed. Garnish with more green onions.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Wontons can be frozen raw or cooked—just separate with parchment paper to avoid sticking. Reheat on the stove with a splash of water to loosen the broth.
