Ingredients
  

Pasta and Sauce

  • 12 oz pasta (penne or rigatoni) Feel free to use whole grain for a healthier option.
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Homemade or store-bought.

Cheeses

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese Creamy and perfect for layering.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese The cheese that pulls at your heartstrings.
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese Adds a savory crunch.

Spices & Seasoning

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning Or a generous sprinkle of dried herbs.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.

Garnish

  • Fresh basil leaves Optional, for garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook your pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the sauce mixture, stirring gently to coat.

Assembly

  • Transfer half of the pasta mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over it.
  • Pour the remaining pasta mixture on top and finish with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is melty and golden brown.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.

Notes

Can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge before baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
