Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 bunch Broccoli, fresh florets Vibrant florets are best; frozen can be used but may cook differently.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Can substitute with avocado oil for a different flavor.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Fresh garlic offers a wonderful aroma; garlic powder can be used if in a hurry.
  • to taste Salt and Pepper Try sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper for added flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice Adds brightness; lime juice works too.
  • optional Red Pepper Flakes Optional for a little kick.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Rinse your fresh broccoli under cold water and pat dry. Cut into bite-sized florets.

Cooking

  • In a large sauté pan, heat olive oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
  • Toss in the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, being careful not to let it burn.
  • Add the broccoli florets, season with salt and pepper, and stir to coat.
  • Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli turns bright green and is slightly tender but still crisp.
  • Remove from heat and drizzle with fresh lemon juice. If desired, sprinkle some red pepper flakes.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy the satisfying crunch.

Notes

For a deeper flavor, use vegetable broth instead of oil. Blanching the broccoli for a minute before sautéing helps retain color and nutrients. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
