For the pastry and filling

  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry Store-bought or homemade
  • 500 g Sausage Meat Use your favorite flavor—pork, chicken, or plant-based
  • 1 small Onion, finely chopped Adds sweetness and depth
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced A hint of garlic elevates the dish
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard For a touch of tangy richness
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste Classic seasonings that enhance all flavors
  • 1 Egg, beaten For a beautiful, golden glaze

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • In a frying pan, sauté the chopped onion with a splash of oil until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • In a bowl, combine the sausage meat, sautéed onion and garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix well until nicely combined.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle, aiming for a thickness of about 0.5 cm (1/4 inch).
  • Cut the pastry into strips roughly 10 cm (4 inches) wide. Place a generous tablespoon of filling along one edge of each strip, then roll up to enclose the filling, pressing the edges to seal.

Baking

  • Place the rolls seam-side down on your prepared baking tray and brush each one with the beaten egg.
  • Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.

Notes

These rolls can be customized with different herbs, spices, or cheese. Serve with dipping sauces and salads for a well-rounded meal.
