  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional) Adds depth.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Brightens the flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon honey or brown sugar (optional) For a tiny sweet balance.
  • 2-4 tablespoons chicken broth or water For a quick pan sauce.
  • Chopped parsley or green onions for serving (optional)

Preparation

  • Pat the chicken dry, then season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • Heat your skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil or butter.

Cooking

  • Add the chicken in a single layer and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes per side for cutlets, or 6 to 8 minutes total for small pieces, until golden and cooked through.
  • Turn the heat down to medium and add the garlic, stirring for about 20 to 30 seconds.
  • Add soy sauce, lemon juice, and a splash of broth or water. Scrape the pan to create a quick glossy sauce.
  • Taste and adjust; finish with parsley or green onions.

Notes

Make sure to not add garlic too early to avoid burning. Thin chicken cooks faster, so slice or pound breasts if using. Top your chicken with fresh herbs, something creamy, crunchy, bright, or cheese for added flavor.
