  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 tablespoons Black Tea (Assam recommended) For a robust flavor.
  • 1 cup Milk Can substitute with almond, coconut, or oat milk.

Whole Spices

  • 2 sticks Cinnamon
  • 4 cloves Cloves
  • 4 pods Cardamom
  • 1 inch Fresh Ginger Sliced or grated.

Sweetener and Flavor Enhancers

  • to taste Sugar, Honey, or Maple Syrup Choose based on your preference.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (optional) Enhances the flavor.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients for a smooth brewing process.
  • In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil.

Brewing

  • Once boiling, add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom pods, and ginger. Let them simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in 2 tablespoons of black tea and allow it to brew for another 5 minutes.
  • Pour in 1 cup of your chosen milk and bring the mixture back to a low boil.
  • Stir in your preferred sweetener to taste, and let it simmer for another 2 minutes.
  • Use a fine sieve to strain your chai into cups, discarding the solids.
  • Dust with a pinch of cinnamon and serve hot, optionally garnished.

Notes

Adjust spices and sweetness to find your perfect blend. Can be made ahead and stored for up to 2 days.
