Preparation

  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and add sliced onions. Cook, stirring frequently for about 25 minutes until golden brown and soft.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise until smooth.
  • Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the creamy mixture.
  • Once the onions have cooled slightly, fold them into the creamy mixture.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to meld the flavors.

Notes

For a twist, add fresh herbs like thyme or chives, or mix in some grated parmesan for extra flavor. This dip can be made a day in advance for deeper flavors.
