Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it into bite-sized pieces.
  • Add in the onion and garlic; cook until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in the cabbage and let it wilt slightly for about 5 minutes.
  • Mix in the tomato sauce and cooked rice, followed by salt and pepper. Let it meld together on low heat for 5 more minutes.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the cheddar cheese generously over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. This dish freezes well—consider portioning it out for easy future meals. Reheat by baking at 350°F (175°C).
