  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark) Both work beautifully.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Or tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Fresh is best, but jarred works in a pinch.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Feel free to substitute with butter.
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger Optional, but adds a wonderful warmth.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped For garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  • In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, and ground ginger until well combined.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  • Add the seasoned chicken breasts to the skillet and sear each side for about 5 minutes.
  • Pour the brown sugar garlic mixture over the chicken and reduce the heat to medium-low.
  • Cover and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C), with caramelized edges and bubbling sauce.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet, let it rest, and drizzle the remaining sauce over the top.
  • Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Customize the dish by adding red pepper flakes for spice or toss in some colorful vegetables for extra nutrition. Serve over jasmine rice or with roasted vegetables.
