  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or American-style cheese Melts into tiny, perfect blankets.
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise Base for the signature sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup Base for the signature sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard Base for the signature sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish Base for the signature sauce.
  • 1 small onion, finely diced Briefly softened in a pan.

Preparation

  • Make the special sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, and sweet pickle relish. Taste and adjust.
  • Season the beef: Place ground beef in a bowl and sprinkle with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix gently.
  • Form tiny patties: Divide ground beef into 12 equal portions and shape into thin patties slightly larger than slider buns. Press a small dimple in each for even cooking.

Cooking

  • Cook the patties: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook patties 2 to 3 minutes per side until browned. Add cheese on top of each patty in the final 30 seconds and cover to melt.
  • Toast the buns: Lightly butter the slider buns and toast them face down in the skillet until golden.

Assembly

  • Spread the special sauce on both the top and bottom buns. Layer with lettuce, cheese-topped patties, pickles, and diced onions. Cap with the top bun and press gently.

Notes

For variations, consider adding caramelized onions, crispy bacon, or making a lighter version with Greek yogurt. Serve with extra sauce and pickles for a fun presentation.
