Ingredients

Nacho Base

  • 1 bag Tortilla Chips Use thicker, restaurant-style chips for the best crunch.

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb Ground Beef You can opt for turkey or a plant-based alternative for a lighter version.
  • 1 small Onion, diced Shallots work wonderfully too.
  • 1 cup American Cheese, shredded Use more cheddar if needed.
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese, shredded Feel free to mix with Monterey Jack.
  • 1/2 cup Pickles, chopped Use dill or sweet pickles according to your taste.
  • 1 small Tomato, diced Adds a juicy burst of flavor.
  • 1 cup Lettuce, shredded Romaine or iceberg are perfect!
  • Salt and Pepper Essential seasonings to elevate the dish.

Optional Sauce

  • Special Sauce (mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickles) Combine ingredients to mimic the Big Mac sauce.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil. Once hot, toss in diced onions and sauté until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Season with salt and pepper, cooking until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Spread a generous layer of tortilla chips on a large serving platter or baking sheet, optionally lined with parchment paper.
  • Sprinkle half of the cheddar and American cheese over the chips, then spoon the beef mixture evenly on top. Add the remaining cheese as a final layer.

Finishing Touch

  • Pop your tray under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, keeping a close eye to ensure the cheese melts and bubbles without burning.
  • Once the cheese is melted, remove it from the oven and sprinkle the chopped pickles, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and special sauce over the nachos.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy while hot!

Notes

For a spicy kick, add diced jalapeños or sprinkle some red pepper flakes before broiling. Swap ground beef for black beans or lentils for a healthier option. Don't overload with toppings to maintain perfect balance in each bite.
