Ingredients

For the Salad

  • 4 medium medium apples (any variety) Crisp apples like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith balance sweetness and tartness beautifully.
  • 1 cup celery, diced Adds a delightful crunch; feel free to substitute with jicama for a unique twist.
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped For a nutty flavor and an indulgent treat. Toast them for extra richness.

For the Dressing

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt This serves as the creamy base. Swap it with sour cream or a dairy-free alternative for your needs.
  • 2 tablespoons honey A touch of sweetness; maple syrup works as a substitute.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Brightens up the dish and keeps the apples from browning.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon An optional spice that brings warmth and comfort, especially in fall.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash the apples. You can peel them if you prefer, but leaving the skin on adds color and nutrients. Dice the apples into bite-sized chunks and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the diced celery and chopped walnuts to the bowl. The contrast of textures here is delightful.

Mixing the Dressing

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, honey, lemon juice, and cinnamon until well combined.

Combining

  • Pour the dressing over the apple mixture and fold everything together carefully.

Chilling

  • Let the salad chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes if time allows.

Serving

  • Serve the salad fresh or chilled.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days. Hold off on adding the dressing until right before serving to keep everything crisp.
