Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the chicken: If your chicken breasts are thick, pound them to an even thickness to ensure even cooking. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Sear the chicken: In a skillet over medium heat, sear the chicken for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden.

Assembly

  • Layer the casserole: In a baking dish, spread half of the marinara sauce on the bottom. Place the seared chicken on top, then add the remaining marinara.
  • Add cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly on top of the sauce.
  • Top with breadcrumbs: Mix breadcrumbs with garlic powder and Italian herbs and sprinkle them generously over the cheese layer.

Baking

  • Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and the cheese is bubbling and golden brown.

Notes
